The nearest major airport is approximately 85 miles away in Norfolk, Va. From the airport, take I-64 east to Highway 168 south (Battlefield Blvd. exit) to Highway 158 east. 168 becomes 158. Entering the Outer Banks you will cross the Wright Memorial Bridge. Once over the bridge, distance is measured by milepost markers. You will start at milepost 1. Go south on 158 to milepost 9 1/2. You will come to an intersection with a "Burger King" and a "7-Eleven" on the left. Turn left onto Neptune Street which dead ends on Virginia Dare Trail (Route 12). Turn left onto route 12. High Dunes is a short distance on your right. Keys will be in a drop box under the building marked RCI. The resort is now managed by Golden Strand ( 252/441-7860 ).
