Established in 1872 as the world’s first national park, Yellowstone spans a whopping 3,500 square miles and is home to the world-famous Old Faithful, along with nearly 500 other geysers, more than any other single location on earth. Yellowstone also contains a vast array of wildlife, where tourists can see everything from elk, to wolves, to bears.
Though there are some amazing national parks in America, the topography of Yellowstone is unlike any other in the United States. It is made up of mountain ranges, canyons, lakes, and rivers. In fact, Yellowstone Lake is located on the largest super volcano in North America, the Yellowstone Caldera, and is one of the largest high-elevation lakes on the continent.
There are a couple ways to make the most of your Yellowstone vacation. You can make your way through the park, taking in the sights as you go. Or, you can basecamp at a specific location, like Jackson Hole, Wyoming, a gateway to the park, and make day trips in to sightsee and adventure. No matter which route you choose, get your family excited about the wonders they’ll see before they enter Yellowstone. It’s one thing to see waterfalls and geysers on TV, but it can be a whole new experience to be standing in front of Old Faithful.
Begging to be explored, Yellowstone National Park can offer everything you need for an unforgettable vacation.
