East Coast of Spain
The gorgeous east coast of Spain is made up of the provinces Alicante, Valencia, Castellon, Tarragona, Barcelona, and Gerona. Each region warrants its own trip to experience all that they offer. Whether you want to try your hand at learning to speak Catalan in the northern areas or bite into the oranges in Valencia, the eastern coast of Spain can have something for everyone.
Starting in the south in Alicante, experience a very unique blend of cultures that is centuries old. Alicante was one of the first cities to be conquered by the Moors from North Africa, and their influence is still visible today. While visiting, take in the beautiful beaches of the Costa Blanca, lined with almond and orange trees. Travel to Denia to visit the Denia Castle and Archaeological Museum or the city of Alicante to see the capital and the Castillo Santa Barbara.
At the northern end of the coast, Barcelona can offer a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Barcelona is a part of Catalonia, which has its own unique cultural identity and language. The city itself is filled with beautiful architecture by Antoni Gaudí that is unlike anything else in the world. Take a tour of the still unfinished La Sagrada Familia to see the complex and intricate designs on every surface of the building or walk through a La Parque Güell and behold the dazzling colors and mosaic work.
