Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic and Haiti share the island of Hispaniola. The island had already been occupied for centuries when Christopher Columbus landed. With its unique culture, its gorgeous beaches, and the fantastically clear Caribbean surrounding the island, it's easy to see why the Dominican Republic is the most visited destination in the region.
Start your vacation in the capital, Santo Domingo. With one of the longest histories in the Western Hemisphere, Santo Domingo has no shortage of culture or things to do. Visit Catedral Primada de America, one of the earliest cathedrals built in the Americas. Stroll through Parque Colon in the central square of the historic Ciudad Colonial. Walk on the 500 year-old cobblestones of Calle de Las Damas and feel the history of this magnificent city beneath your feet. After you’ve soaked in the richness of the city, head on over to Punta Cana to soak up the sun. The clear waters off Bavaro Beach are so inviting, be prepared to dive in! Go for a swim in Hoyo Azul lagoon to see how beautiful the waters of the Dominican Republic are up close in this small swimming hole. If you can manage to leave the Dominican Republic, stay at one of our resorts in Puerto Rico to explore more of the Caribbean.
