Argentina
Argentina can offer something to spark every traveler’s interest, from the cosmopolitan capital to the breathtaking landscapes of the Pampas and Patagonia. As the largest Spanish-speaking country in the world and the second largest country in Latin America, there are plenty of areas to explore.
Discover the rich culture and European-inspired architecture of the capital, Buenos Aires. To see the tango performed, visit Plaza Dorredo, where the public square is transformed into a market and performance space on Sundays. After shopping, take a break at an outdoor café and watch the dancers perform. Or, wander through colorful neighborhoods like La Boca to see art both in museums and being created on the street. To learn more about Argentina’s history, visit Recoleta Cemetery. Replete with marble mausoleums and statuaries, it is the final resting place for many of the country’s former presidents and other high ranking officials.
Once outside the city, relax at one of the many wineries in the Mendoza wine region or climb to new heights on nearby Mount Aconcagua, the highest point in the western hemisphere. Shed your climbing gear for a rain jacket as you venture to Iguazu Falls, one of 275 waterfalls that flow through the parks straddling the tri-border region of Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay. For a taste of winter, travel to the Patagonia region to see the Perito Moreno Glacier, located in Los Glaciares National Park.
